Abstract

An oil leakage sensor for plant inspection has been developed. A new detection method that simultaneously utilizes light absorption and fluorescence characteristics in oil is proposed. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method has sufficient sensitivity for detecting 50-µm-thick oil leakage under the condition of oil adhesion on equipment and can detect oil separately without being affected by reflection rates at different surfaces. This finding suggests that the proposed method for detecting oil leakage can be applied to actual plant inspection.
