Abstract

1. The efficiency of oil cleaning in automotive engines to remove contaminants depends both on the type of cleaner and on the dispersancy of the oil. 2. With low-dispersancy oils, the use of a centrifuge results in a greater amount of contaminants in the oil than does the use of fine filters; with high-dispersancy (additive) oils, the reverse is true. 3. Prolonged efficient operation of a full-flow fine filter is possible only when using oils with dispersant additives. 4. The reduction in operating efficiency of DASFO filters on additive oils is caused by the rapid plugging of the cartridge filter elements.
