Abstract

Drilling activity across south Texas declined in 1983. Particularly hard hit were wildcat drilling and new gas field completions. Most significant successes were in deep Sligo gas exploration. Best production came from the developing deep Wilcox trend. Drilling for fractured Austin Chalk and for Paleozoic objectives had the largest declines relative to 1982.
