Abstract

Oral mucositis (OM) and radiodermatitis (RD) are serious side effects of radiotherapy (RT), often leading to RT suspension, need for analgesics, and enteral/parenteral nutrition. Laser therapy is a novel therapy used for prevention and management of OM. This prospective study aimed to explore the beneficial effect of class IV high-power laser therapy (HPLT) on RT-induced OM, but it also proposed an innovative strategy to manage RD in patients with breast cancer.
