Abstract

Erythema multiforme (EM), a very painful inflammatory disease of the skin and mucous membranes with unknown etiology, has been documented to have a wide range of predisposing factors. Malaria constitutes an important public health issue of global proportions. Apart from its obvious clinical features, it also influences or initiates oral diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of malaria parasite (MP) and herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections in the etiology of recurrent EM.
