Abstract

Background: Extensively Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (XDR TB) is resistant to isoniazid and rifampin, plus any fluoroquinolone and at least one second-line drug. In February 2016, a 35-week pregnant patient from Mongolia presented to the clinic reporting 3 week productive cough. The patient had a positive Mantoux and chest x-ray showing a possible pulmonary nodule just prior to pregnancy. Extensive care coordination and planning between healthcare teams in prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum, Adult and Pediatric Infectious Disease, Public Health, and Infection Prevention occurred during the weeks prior to delivery.
