Abstract
Criteria used to establish that electrical measurements on semiconducting phosphate glasses are bulk limited and can be described in terms of a Debye type polarization are reviewed. The practical and theoretical considerations needed to prepare non-blocking electrodes are outlined and it is concluded that any non-reproducibility of results arises from absorbed surface layers rather than the fundamental properties of the contact.
