Abstract

Abstract Off‐road Recreation Vehicles (ORVs) have become relatively permanent components of the spectrum of recreation opportunities. However, issues of environmental impact and social conflict frequently accompany ORV use of many recreational settings. Because of the current policy allowing ORV use under certain restrictions in some units of the National Park System, these questions must also be addressed by national park managers. This paper identifies the types of information needed to resolve ORV‐induced issues in the National Park System.
