Abstract

Pre-operative renal dysfunction is an important determinant of early survival after coronary artery bypass [1]. Information regarding the role and potential benefit of off-pump surgery in patients with pre-existing renal dysfunction is limited. While many meta-analyses have compared the results of off-pump and conventional coronary artery bypass; none have specifically addressed this issue. Hence we have conducted a systematic review to compare the incidence of acute renal failure following off-pump (OPCABG) or conventional coronary artery bypass grafting (ONCABG) in patients with non-dialysis dependent renal dysfunction.
