Abstract

A 1986 lobster die-off in the southern Kattegat strait between Denmark and Sweden triggered an intense lobbying campaign led by Danish Society for the Conservation of Nature, which persuaded the government to take steps to heal the oxygen-poor waters. After a series of false starts, the plan, enacted in 1987, finally appears to be paying dividends.
