Abstract

A review is presented of recent studies on improvement of oestrus detection aids and development of methods for determining the proper insemination time, without the need to detect the behavioural manifestation of oestrus. Emphasis is placed on: (1) automated and telemeterable mass that could be incorporated in computerized expert management systems; (2) increasing the efficiency and accuracy of detection by simultaneous or consecutive use of more than one method.
