Abstract

A 29-year-old female, melanoderma, referred from the public health service due to swelling that caused facial tumefaction in the anterior mandibular region 3 years ago. At the physical examination, she presented asymmetry of the lower third of the face with deviation from the left midline and intraoral buccal and lingual bulging in the mandibular symphysis. Radiographic examination showed multilocular radiolucent lesion, covering elements 36 to 44, dental displacement, and preservation of the mandibular bone basilar. Incisional biopsy diagnosed odontogenic myxoma. Treatment of the lesion involved obtaining a prototype of the patient’s mandible from computed tomography for surgical planning and pre-conformation of the reconstruction plate, that allowed the resection of the lesion with intraoral access and immediate reconstruction with iliac crest graft. In the postoperative period, the patient received nutrition through a nasoenteric catheter until the initial healing of the operative wound and is currently in observation for oral rehabilitation.
