Abstract

Objective The characteristics of ocular trauma in high altitude were analysed to prevention and treatment better. Methods The 107 inpatient cases of closed-globe injury and open-globe injury were retrospective studied during seven months. Results The ocular trauma in high altitude had high prevalence (50.95% of the total inpatients in the same period; their damages were serious, visions less than 0.05 before therapeutic in 66.67% cases; the injury causes were special and the their ages were younger, with a mean age of 30.80-1.33 years (the youngest was 9 months); the duration before seeing a doctor was delay, with a mean time of 30.36+4.66 hours (latest, 10 days) and the sight prognosis was bad, visions lower than 0.05 after therapeutic in 43.14% cases. Conclusion It is essential to strength the education of awareness and measures of prevention and support of medical techniques and instruments for ocular trauma managing in high altitude.
