Abstract

COVID-19 is a highly contagious pathogen caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Recent studies have shown that COVID-19 shares similarities with autoimmune diseases in clinical manifestations, immune responses, pathogenic mechanisms and the presence of autoantibodies. Also, some patients have been reported to develop autoimmune diseases such as Guillain–Barre syndrome and Myasthenia Graves (MG) after COVID-19. MG is an autoimmune disease of the neuromuscular junction, affecting ocular, bulbar, respiratory and skeletal muscles.
