Abstract

The author's intention to provide a quick and complete reference source for differential diagnosis of ocular disorders is amply fulfilled in this compact volume. A total of 259 separate listings of signs and symptoms are arranged according to the anatomical regions of the eye involved. These topics range from very broad subjects, like "orbital pain," to the most minute, such as "intraocular adipose tissue." An extensive list of possible causes is provided for each subject with the most important ones identified by asterisks. A clear, concise outline format is used throughout. Each subject is accompanied by a basic reference list of textbooks and recent articles which is helpful but not exhaustive. Some disorders are classified not only by signs and symptoms but also by age groups and other factors. Syndromes are characterized briefly whenever they appear.
