Abstract

A retrospective study was conducted to evaluate the visual field changes over time by using four visual field indices (mean sensitivity, mean defect, corrected loss variance and skewness) of the Octopus G1 program. All the 29 patients had received at least 4 consecutive visual field examinations during the past 4 years. Seventeen eyes with poor control of IOP (the highest IOP<30 mmHg) showed significant change (p<0.01) of mean sensitivity and mean defect over time, but not the corrected loss variance and skewness. It means that the visual field became more diffuse damage as times went by in this group. Thirty-eight eyes with good control of IOP (the highest IOP<20 mmHg) showed no significant change of mean sensitivity, corrected loss variance and skewness over time, but there was a little change of mean defect (P=0.041). It means that there was no significant change of visual field during the follow-up period in this group.
