Adam Johns received his PhD in English from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006. He is the author of The Assault on Progress: Technology and Time in American Literature (University of Alabama Press, 2008) and of essays on Herbert Marcuse, Lewis Mumford, and Octavia Butler. His work focuses on the relationship between the humanities and technoscience.
