Abstract

An octal elements Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna is designed for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) wireless systems. The proposed MIMO antenna system consists of eight monopole radiators in two-dimensional (2D) configuration. The single element is composed of rectangular patch with staircase configuration to match input impedance throughout the UWB frequency band. All the monopole antennas are positioned orthogonally for exploiting polarization diversity which is used for improving isolation. However, to obtain more isolation six L-shaped parasitic element with comb like structure is used. Decent impedance matching and higher isolation are observed over almost 3-12 GHz band of frequency. The presented massive MIMO antenna covers the surface area of $165\times 82.5 \text{mm}^{2}$ . Also, the proposed antenna provides improved diversity performance.
