Abstract

In order to improve the photocatalytic capacity of Bi2WO6, methods including crystal facet modulation, high-temperature treatment, heterojunction construction and quantum dot doping are often used. Therefore, it is necessary to synthesize a high-performance Bi2WO6 photocatalyst through simple preparation methods. Here, a two-step method was used to improve the photodegradation activity of Bi2WO6 by 27.5 times: 1) Stir at room temperature; 2) Dry at 80 °C. It is demonstrated that the improved photocatalytic performance of octadecanethiol-modified superhydrophobic Bi2WO6 (SH-Bi2WO6) is caused by the reduced band width from 2.69 eV to 2.1 eV. Meanwhile, SH-Bi2WO6 can be loaded to glass and fabric surface through spraying method. Thus, superhydrophobic glass (contact angle is 162º) with self-cleaning performance and superhydrophobic fabric with a size of 0.4 m × 0.4 m were obtained.
