Abstract
AbstractWith the advances in technology, new devices and instruments provide detailed information about the morphology and histology of the eye especially retina and retinal vessels. In children with hereditary or congenital retinal and optic nerve pathologies, the new advances help us to diagnose, treat and follow patients. Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA), a new diagnostic modality without need of dye injection and complications of contrast agent will provide information about vascular system of retina and choroid. OCTA provide information about capillaries around the optic disc and and macular area noninvasively. Optic nerve and retinal vessels can be evaluated structurally and functionally with the blood flow and also retinal microvasculature can be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively with measurement of flow index and vessel density. Nerve fiber and ganglion cells changes that can be detected with OCT, can be further evaluated with OCTA for associated vascular drop out or reduced retinal perfusion areas.
