Abstract

Seven government agencies, twenty universities, and seven industrial laboratories are participating in the three‐month Barbados Oceanographic and Meteorological Experiment (BOMEX). The project is basically a study of the interactions between sea and air and includes emphasis on small‐scale weather phenomena. BOMEX scientists are using cosmicray induced Beryllium‐7 as tracer in their study of the mixing of the atmosphere and upper layers of the ocean. Data from an instrument cluster on the Floating Laboratory Instrument Platform indicate a previously unrecorded relationship between temperature and humidity in small atmospheric fronts.
