Abstract
The major elements chemistry, as expressed by the normative composition, and the degree of silica saturation of basalts erupted at various distances from the axis of the East Pacific Ridge do not differ systematically from the same parameters of basalts erupted at the axis of the Ridge. These results suggest that the conditions of magma generation are similar beneath Ridges and away from them.
