Abstract

Seven goals and objectives for services to ocean operations in the coming decade are outlined in a recent report by a task group of the National Advisory Committee on Oceans and Atmospheres (NACOA). The group also identified the principal driving forces expected to influence ocean use.NACOA (Eos, February 24, p. 76) advises the President on ocean and atmospheric affairs. The Task Group on Services to Ocean Operations, chaired by Robert M. White at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, is one of six task forces established by NACOA to identify goals for ocean activities. The task group's recent report focuses solely on civilian programs.
