Abstract

The presence of organic phosphate-mineralizing microorganisms was investigated in cerrado soils. The organisms were isolated, using both conventional and semi-selective media. 96.1 % of actinomycetes and 72.2 % of bacteria examined showed the capacity of mineralizing at least one of the following compounds: DNA, lecithin, and calcium phytate, when examined with plate technique. Several strains mineralized more than one compound. Thirty randomly selected actinomycetes were assayed quantitatively in liquid media, using DNA and 23 using lecithin as the sole source of phosphorus. All isolates, positive in plate test, released significant amounts of inorganic phosphate in liquid medium. The growing cells released from 6.6 % to 63.2 % phosphorus from DNA and from 9.0% to 50.0% from lecithin. The assay with resting cells showed a release from 5.0% to 80.9% phosphorus from DNA. „Cerrado“-Böden sind unterschiedliche Böden Südamerikas, die durch eine typische Pflanzengesellschaft gekennzeichnet sind. Sie sind alle sauer und nährstoffarm. Die Freisetzung von Phosphor aus organischer Bindung ist in diesen Böden besonders wichtig. Bei Anwendung konventioneller und semi-selektiver Nährmedien wiesen mehr als 96 % der isolierten Aktinomyzeten und mehr als 72% der Bakterien die Fähigkeit der Spaltung von Lezithin, DNS und Phytin auf. Wachsende Zellen setzten folgende Mengen an Phosphor frei: 6,6 bis 63,2 % aus DNS und 9,0 bis 50,0% aus Lezithin. Die ruhenden Zellen setzten 5,0 bis 80,9% des DNS-Phosphors frei.
