Abstract

Pollen cones borne laterally were observed on many one-season-old long shoots on six Larix leptolepis (Sieb. & Zucc.) Gord. trees 7.5 to 10.4 m tall. The cones occurred proximally on their parent shoots and on the under or side surfaces. They were smaller and developed to maturity more slowly than nearby pollen cones situated terminally on short shoots. The lateral cones were produced in two successive years.
