Abstract

Objective To understand the current situation of occupational health supervision of off-the-job workers at Sanshui District, Foshan, and to explore the workers’ occupational disease risk. Methods 18 796 off-the-job workers exposing to occupational disease hazards in industrial enterprises in Sanshui area from 2011 to 2018 were selected as research objects, the suspected occupational diseases found in occupational health examination were statistically analyzed. Results Of the 18 796 workers, 20 cases of suspected occupational diseases were detected, and the detection rate was 0.11%; 10 cases of suspected pneumoconiosis were detected, and the detection rate was 0.08% (10/12 368); 10 cases of suspected deafness were detected, and the detection rate was 0.22 % (10/4 557). Through statistical analysis, the detection rates of suspected pneumoconiosis and suspected deafness were statistically different (P< 0.05). From 2011 to 2018, among the 209 755 cases under occupational health supervision at Sanshui District, 516 cases had various suspected occupational diseases; the detection rate was 0.25%, which was higher than the suspected occupational disease detection rate of the off-the-job workers(0.11%), with a statistical difference (P<0.001). Conclusion The detection rate of suspected occupational diseases among off-the-job workers is lower than that of workers during the period of employment, but there is still a certain risk of occupational diseases among off-the-job workers. Noise and dust workers are the key targets of occupational health supervision. Key words: Occupational diseases; Occupational health supervision; Off-the-job workers
