Abstract

Empirical investigation was conducted to determine the relationship between workplace bullying and employee burnout specifically in nursing profession. Considering the participation from females and males in nursing workforce in Pakistan, the moderating role of gender was embodied into the study. Primary data, through non- probabilistic purposive sampling, was collected from nurses working in hospitals of Karachi and Hyderabad. Response rate was 62.5% which was gained through self-administered close ended questionnaires using Negative Acts Questionnaire and Maslach Employee Burnout. The data was assessed using simple linear regression and correlation on SPSS software. The findings revealed that occupational bullying is a predictor of employee burnout with being stronger predictor in male nurses than female nurses.
