Abstract

The energy behaviour, which influences the generation of internal heat gains in an ‘average’ Greek family home, is presented. The necessary data are obtained from 158 families of Solar Village-3 in Lykovrisi Attika. The occupants were interviewed during 1991 and filled in a form with questions concerning their presence at home, the use of domestic appliances and the performance of energy related activities. With the elaboration of data the energy contribution of the members of typical families in the house was concluded. The results are occupation patterns, use of electric appliances, and occupants activities influencing the generation of heat in residences. The results can be used for the calculation of cooling loads in residence buildings and for the simulation of occupants' behaviour in building energy models.
