Abstract
In public transport, especially in bus services, the number of passengers decreases, largely because individual car transport are able to provide a higher quality passenger transport. Nevertheless, demand for public transport services is not constant during the day or during a week or a year. There are in transport traffic peaks, with higher demand and traffic saddles, during which the demand is below the value in each monitored period. Changes in demand make problems for transport carriers, which have to decide for vehicle capacity planning. This situation also occurs in procurement, and it affects the number of necessary vehicles too. The planning of the transport means is also influenced by the requirements for the quality of the transport service. The paper aims to analyse the transport means in urban public transport. It also includes determining the occupancy rate of individual vehicles types on public transport lines.
