Abstract

The authors report a case of meningioma obstructing the transverse sinus simulating pseudotumor cerebri. CT was negative but brain scan was abnormal. The radiological diagnosis of meningioma in the region of the transverse sinus proved to be difficult. In suspected cases, radioactive isotope brain scan, digital subtraction angiography or magnetic resonance imaging are important supplementary tests to confirm the diagnosis of sinus obstruction. Evidence of rerouting of cortical venous drainage should be sought when angiography is performed.
