Abstract

This chapter expounds on the concept of Occam's razor, which involves the racial or ethnic inequalities across society. It looks into the opposing explanations for disproportionate minority contact (DMC). The first argument revolves around how DMC merely reflects the higher rate of criminality among non-Whites, while the other argument focused on the differential treatment of non-White people in numerous areas of society, such as the juvenile justice system. Historically, non-Whites have been blamed for their social problems. The chapter provides examples of how Black drivers are less likely to break laws. It also includes the statistics on using force against Black people.
