Abstract

1. A technology was developed for obtaining nickel reinforced with tungsten fibers with orientation in one or two directions. 2. We established the relationships between relative density of the compositions containing up to 40% by volume of fibers and the deduced compaction work and heating temperatures. We also determined the parameters Wmax and n characterizing the compaction process during dynamic hot pressing. 3. For the compositions investigated containing tungsten in amounts of up to 38% by volume we recommend dynamic hot pressing temperatures of about 1200°C. The choice of the deduced compaction work for obtaining the stated density should be made in accordance with graphs shown in Figs. 2 and 4.
