Abstract

A new plasmachemical reactor is proposed that provides a high yield of hydrogen from electric discharge in a mixture of air with ethanol and water vapors. It is shown that intense electron-molecule reactions and high temperature in the discharge region favor an increase in the degree of H2O and C2H5OH conversion into molecular hydrogen. A mechanism of the initiation of chain reactions leading to H2 formation is determined. It is established that H2 concentration reaches saturation in the region of discharge currents above 200 mA.
