Abstract

Su et al from the Chinese University of Hong Kong have investigated the prevalence of nocturnal enuresis in children with obstructive sleep apnea and correlated the findings with the results of overnight polysomnography. This large study of 6147 children demonstrated that there was no increase in nocturnal enuresis in children with obstructive sleep apnea in general. However, there was an increase with advancing severity of obstructive sleep apnea observed only in girls. The authors believe that the reason for this difference according to sex could be due to a hormonal effect on renal function.Article page 238▶ Su et al from the Chinese University of Hong Kong have investigated the prevalence of nocturnal enuresis in children with obstructive sleep apnea and correlated the findings with the results of overnight polysomnography.
