Abstract

Our results, contrary to Federman and Yang's claim, are consistent with recent studies on obstetrical medication and infant behavior (Brackbill, Kane, Manniello, & Abramson 1974a, 1974b; Conway & Brackbill 1970). They are also consistent with the extensive literature on placental permeability and on accumulation of drugs in the fetus and the newborn (see the review papers by Aleksandrowicz 1974; Bowes 1970; and Scanlon & Alper 1974).
