Abstract

Centuries ago, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) was considered the result of possession by outside forces and was treated by witch doctors or religious leaders who tried to rid the patient of his tormenting invader. 1 Even though our knowledge has increased considerably, OCD is still probably the least understood of all the major psychiatric syndromes.
