Abstract

This paper is concerned with the problem of fault detection (FD) for T-S fuzzy systems with measurement outliers. A new fuzzy FD observer with adaptive saturation of output errors is first constructed to reduce the effect of measurement outliers on the error systems and the residual signals. Then, by establishing a suitable non-differentiable Lyapunov function, sufficient conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are derived to ensure the exponential stability and H∞ performance of the error systems. Compared with the existing results, the proposed new fuzzy FD observer with adaptive saturation of output errors can effectively avoid false alarms caused by measurement outliers. Finally, three examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed design method.
