Abstract

The classical parameter space approach (PSA) delivers a solution for checking the stability of closed-loop systems analytically. The resulting stability regions in the parameter space can be used for a region-based system design approach as an alternative to other controller design methods. In this paper, the PSA approach is extended towards observer design while also considering performance criteria. Thereby, two new problems arise and are solved, which were not discussed in the PSA-literature before: The incorporation of bandwidth performance-criteria in the context of the Lyapunov-PSA and the consideration of boundaries arising from an underlaid PSA-problem. Along the methodical solution of these two problems, one theoretical and one practical application example illustrate the methodology.
