Abstract

Electrolytical anodization can change short weak links of niobium into small-area tunnel Josephson junctions. The critical current of anodized weak links can have either temperature dependence of a short weak link calculated by Kulik & Omel'yanchuk or that of a tunnel junction given by Ambegaokar & Baratoff. These observations agree with the recent general theory presented by D.B.Arnold which explains the temperature dependenceof the critical currents both of metallic weak links and tunnel Josephson junctions consistently.
