Abstract
The effects of a single dose of 200 mg norethisterone-enanthate i.m. on menstrual bleeding, parameters of thyroid and adrenal function, lipid metabolism, hematopoietic system and some liver enzymes were studied in 12 healthy women aged 20–44 years with normal ovulatory cycles. Menstrual irregularities were excluded by morning temperature curves before application of norethisterone-enanthate. Between the 7 th and 10 th and the 20 th and 24 th day of the cycle before application the following determinations were carried out: PB127I, total serum thyroxine, free serum thyroxine, plasma Cortisol, short-term dexamethasone suppression test (after 4 weeks), total lipids, phospholipids, esterified fatty acids, erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hemoglobin index, packed erythrocyte volume, leucocytes, GOT, GPT and alkaline phosphatase. These studies were repeated 2, 4, 6, 10 and 14 weeks after application of norethisterone-enanthate.
