Abstract

The paper presents the results of experiments on the turbulent boundary layer formed adjacent to a heated vertical plate immersed in water. A brief presentation of gross features is followed by a detailed discussion of fluctuations and their attendant structural implications. Conclusions are drawn regarding the scale, intensity and intermittency of turbulence and the concept of a laminar sublayer.
