Abstract

A representative of the genus Lomentaria (order Rhodymeniales, family Champiaceae) is described from Gabriola Island, British Columbia, and reported from other localities in southern British Columbia and northern Washington. The plant is referred to L. hakodatensis Yendo, although with some uncertainty about species designation, as the specimens observed were entirely sterile. The entity would appear to be non-endemic and may be of recent introduction into the northeast Pacific.
