Abstract

Ammonia elimination of nauplii and metanauplii stages has been studied in diploid and tetraploid biotypes of Artemia salina Leach.Ammonia production is lower in diploid Artemia; in connection with these results, some data previously obtained on the enzymatic activities of the two biotypes in Artemia have been referred to, and it has been underlined that in tetraploid individuals the stronger ammonia elimination is accompanied by a stronger dipeptidase activity.
