Abstract

Abstract Female channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) ovulated reliably after they were injected with human chorionic gonadotropin or carp pituitary. Male blue catfish (I. furcatus) injected with luteinizing hormonereleasing hormone could be stripped of a clear fluid containing some viable sperm. These preliminary experiments indicate that controlled artificial spawning of channel catfish may be possible after induction procedures are refined.
