Abstract Observations of the zodiacal light at elongation angles between 250 and 500 from the Sun were obtained with sounding balloons during the solar minimum of . Results on the surface brightness, color index, and degree of polarization of the zodiacal light from four morning flights and three evening flights are presented. The observations suggest that a difference exists in the brightness distribution of the zodiacal light along the ecliptic between the evening and the morning; no significant difference, however, is detected in the polarization and in the average color index of the zodiacal light.
