Abstract
Initial spectropolarimetric observations at the Irkutsk Institute of Solar and Terrestrial Physics were influenced by the fact that, in the 1970s, a large amount of research was undertaken on turbulent electric fields in plasmas under laboratory conditions(227,228) Since most theories and models of solar flares rely on the concept of the turbulent state of a flare plasma, the Irkutsk group made some initial attempts to study plasma turbulence with the upper chromospheric layers of a solar flare by different spectroscopic techniques, in particular by the Berange—Mozer method, based on satellites of the forbidden Hel line(228,229) and estimates of linear polarization,(194)
