Observations of conspecific aggression and group foraging in invasive lionfish (Pterois sp.) in the Florida Keys, USA

Abstract

Social behaviors in lionfish such as group hunting and aggression have been observed infrequently. We present evidence of lionfish aggression and social foraging from a deployed camera array. The video footage included a case of intraspecific aggression as well as lionfish hunting in close proximity for the same targets.
