Abstract

Abstract The stratigraphic column of the western part of the Mandingue plateau (Soudan), west Africa, is similar to that of the Kayes region. Study of sections at several localities confirms the erosional unconformity in the Cambro-Ordovician previously identified in the Kayes region and shows that the Ordovician is less extensively developed than previously mapped. The argillaceous-calcareous conglomerate in the lower part of the sequence is probably a tillite.
