Abstract

Background and Aim: About 30% of infertility have male origin. Recent studies show that seminogram is not enough, since 15% of infertile men are normozoospermic. DNA ploidy and fragmentation index, play an important role in the prognosis of these couples. Alterations in sperm ploidy, may cause recurrent failures in IVF treatments and abortions. Double strand breaks in sperm DNA, may produce delay in embryonic development, low implantation rates and miscarriages, but these alterations are not detected with seminogram.
