Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of intermittent oxygen atomization inhalation on heart failure complicated by pulmonary infection. Methods 120 patients with heart failure complicated by pulmonary infection were randomly divided into two groups, 60 in the observation group and 60 in the control group. Besides the routine drug treatment to eliminate inflammation, cough, sputum, cardiotonic and diuresis, the observation group adopted the intermittent atomization inhalation, but the control group adopted persistent atomization inhalation. The curative effects of the two groups were compared. Results The time used to eliminate sputum, the disappearing time of cough and the time to control infection were significantly shorter in the observation group than those in the control group. Comared to the control group, there were statistical meanigus in respiration, heart rate and blood oxygen saturation in the observation group 2 hrs after atomization inhalation (P<0. 01). There were more side effects in the control group, and the difference had statisticalmeaning ( P < 0. 01 ). Conclusions The intermittent oxygen atomization inhalation can stablize the respiration and heart rate, obviously shorten the time to eliminate inflammation, the disappearing time of cough and the time to control infection, reduce the side effects and improve the therapeutic effect among the patients with heart failure complicated by pulmonary infection. Key words: Heart failure; Pulmonary infection; Oxygen atomization inhalation
